If you’re having trouble launching PartDesigner, you’ve come to the right place!
You may be seeing an error message that says “Failed to initialize PartDesigner”. Following these steps should resolve the issue.
Install Studio
Please make sure Studio is installed and started at least once before installing PartDesigner, since PartDesigner will not work without Studio. This allows PartDesigner to write the file “PartDesignerPath.txt” that tells Studio how to start PartDesigner.
If PartDesigner continues to fail to initialize, please uninstall the current version of Studio and redownload the latest installer from the Studio download page.
Delete Studio folder
If this does not resolve the issue, you will need to delete the entire Studio folder on your device. Before doing this, make sure to back up any custom parts or decorations you have created in PartDesigner. These custom elements will not be restored since they are user-specific and need to be backed up in a separate location.
Follow the directions below to find the Studio folder on your device and delete it after backing up any custom creations.
- Mac: Users > YOUR USERNAME > .local > share > Stud.io
- To see the hidden folders in your user folder(.local), press Shift+Cmd+>.
- Windows: Find the Studio folder under \Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Stud.io
