The Studio Gallery is a place where you can share all the amazing designs you create with our Studio software. You can share any MOC with the world in just a few clicks!
Please familiarize yourself with the Designer Terms of Service before uploading to the Studio Gallery. When uploading your design, you have three options that dictate how users can interact with your model:
- Private mode: The design is hidden from the Studio Gallery, with all functions inaccessible to the public.
- Display mode: The design is displayed in the Studio Gallery, but the Studio file cannot be downloaded. Instructions and parts are inaccessible to the public.
- Full Access: The design is displayed in the Studio Gallery. Other members can access the instructions and parts list, and you can allow Studio file downloads or disable the download option.
The guidelines provided in this article are meant to assist designers in attaining Full Access permissions for their submissions. This is not an exhaustive list of our internal curation policies, but it covers the most common issues.
Inappropriate content policies
Designs containing inappropriate content as listed in the Designer Terms of Service will be set to Private mode and may result in the suspension of your account. Designs in Private mode can be viewed only by the designer.
Inappropriate content includes:
- Warfare or war vehicles in any modern or present-day situation, or national war memorials
- Large or human-scale weapons or weapon replicas of any kind, including swords, knives, guns, etc.
- Religious references including symbols or people
- A design that focuses on religious-inspired architecture only may be allowed if it does not depict religious symbols or people (e.g. the Taj Mahal)
- Alcohol in any present-day situation
- Death, killing, blood, terrorism, horror, or torture
- First-person shooter video games
- Sex, nudity, drugs, or smoking
- Racism, bullying, or cruelty to real life animals
- Politics and political symbols or campaigns
- Swearing or profanity
Intellectual Property (IP) policies
By allowing you to share anything in the Studio Gallery, it's bound to happen that you may want to create something cool related to your favorite show, movie, or book. To make sure that you're able to do this without risk, we've come up with some Intellectual Property (IP) policies to protect both you and BrickLink.
Intellectual property is any creative creation that is protected by a patent, trademark, or copyright. This includes movies, TV shows, books, songs, and more. Because these works are protected, neither you nor BrickLink is allowed to sell or benefit from the use of them without the owner's explicit consent.
Some examples of intellectual properties include:
- Star Wars
- Minecraft
- Harry Potter
- Marvel
- Ninjago
This is just a small selection of examples. It would be impossible to list all intellectual properties.
Uploading an IP-related design
When uploading your design, please carefully select your sharing option. If your design is related to an IP, make sure you choose Display mode.
Currently, all designs submitted with Full Access will be temporarily set to Display mode while undergoing manual review to prevent IP infringement. If you have a design that is currently set to Full Access and is related to an IP, it will be permanently set to Display mode by our admin team. Likewise, if you submit a new IP-related design as Full Access, it will remain in Display mode permanently.
In accordance with our IP policies, replicas of official LEGO® models will be set to Display mode. Designs using the official LEGO logo or any other third-party IP logo will be set to Private mode.
There are several types of IP trigger keywords that if used in the title, description, tags, image, or username may cause your design to be set to Display mode:
- The LEGO wordmark
- A LEGO set number or set name
- The name of a LEGO theme, e.g. BrickHeadz, NINJAGO
- Third-party copyrights and trademarks, e.g. Star Trek, Angry Birds
A design that does not use any trigger keywords but closely resembles a popular culture icon may also be set to Display mode. For example, if your design looks very much like a Star Wars Imperial Shuttle, even though the title and description do not include the keywords Star Wars or Imperial Shuttle, it may be set to Display mode because of the resemblance.
Additional policies
No links are permitted except to pages where you are showcasing your design (e.g. Flickr, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Rebrickable). Please note that offending links may result in your design being set to Private mode.
Only upload your own designs. Designs belonging to other people should be posted to their own account. Copycat designs will be set to Private mode.
If your design is set to Private mode, you’re more than welcome to edit and re-upload your design to meet our guidelines. If you would like an exact reason why one of your designs was removed or set to Display mode, please email bricklink@support.lego.com and mention your BrickLink username and the name of the design in your message. Repeated violations of these policies may result in the suspension of your account.
