- From the Welcome screen, click Open (B),
- Browse and select a file on your computer.

- From the Welcome screen, click Import (C),
- From the file browser, select a file to import.
or
- Use the menu entry File | Import… | Import Model…,
- Browse and select a file on your computer.
Problem parts
Problems can happen when converting an LDD file:
- Missing decor: Studio knows how to convert a few decorated parts but it generally can't recognize them and will use plain, undecorated parts instead.
- Incorrect position or orientation: if this happens, please let us know on the forum or by sending an email to studio@bricklink.com.
- Unknown part with a 3D model: for some parts, Studio has 3D models but doesn’t have mapping info for their LDD parts.
Those parts appear correctly in the build but have no connectivity information and their names end with a .dat in the Status bar. - Totally unknown part: Some parts are totally unknown to Studio, especially custom parts, and will be replaced with the special representative part: a cube with a red question mark"?" on top.
