Studio can use multiple types of input formats.
Model formats
Besides Studio’s own .io format, Studio can open or import models written in:
- LDraw files (.ldr or .mpd),
- LEGO® Digital Designer files (.lxf or .lxfml).
LEGO® sets
Studio can import the inventory of a LEGO set with only the set number. It gets the inventory from the BrickLink catalog. The set can be imported:
BrickLink Wanted List
Studio can create a custom parts palette from a file in the BrickLink XML Wanted List format.
Sculpture
Studio can create a 3D LEGO sculpture from:
- Wavefront’s OBJ (.obj) 3D model files (accompanied with their .mtl material file for colors),
- STL (.stl) standard 3D model files (colorless).
Mosaic
Studio can make a Mosaic from this different image format:
- Portable Network Graphics (.png),
- Microsoft BMP (.bmp),
- Truevision TGA (.tga),
- Joint Photographic Experts Group JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg),
Studio can also make a mosaic from a Studio .io file. In this case, it uses a (small) image of the model taken from above.
