We all love digital building, but sometimes we want to physically build MOCs using our existing collection of LEGO® bricks. If you keep track of your collection on BrickLink, we’ve got just the tool for you! You can now create a custom building palette based on the My Collection feature, so you can design in Studio using only parts you already own.
A building palette is the selection of LEGO bricks you use to build in Studio. You can already create custom palettes by selecting a limited number of bricks to build with, or build a MOC out of a specific LEGO set’s inventory by importing an official set as a palette.
How do I use My Collection palette?
First, you should use My Collection to add LEGO sets and parts to your personal collection on BrickLink. Next, open the Studio app and log in with your BrickLink username and password. Once you’ve signed in, you'll see a one-time pop-up asking you if you’d like to start building with your collection.
You can also navigate to the palette by clicking the dropdown menu on the left and changing your building palette from “Main” to “My Collection parts”. You can then build with your parts!
How to filter out parts in your collection
If you want to build someone else’s model, you can also use My Collection palette to check how many of the required bricks you already have. Import a design from the Studio Gallery or an official LEGO set to get started.
Click the small funnel icon next to the Search bar in the Step List and turn on the “Unavailable within the selected palette” filter. Since you’re using the My Collection building palette, this will filter out all the parts in the model you already own. The highlighted parts left over are the ones you need to hunt down to build the model!
