To move a part or a selection of parts:
- Grab a part or a selection of parts by holding down the left mouse button
- Release the left mouse button. The parts will follow the mouse pointer until they're placed
- Place the parts by clicking the left mouse button or Space on the keyboard
To cancel the move, hit Esc on the keyboard or click the right mouse button. The parts will go back to their previous positions.
The parts follow the mouse pointer when you move it around and will move according to the current Grid.
If Snap and Collision are on, Studio will try to place parts in a valid, connected position. If Snap is off, the part can be placed anywhere even if the connection isn’t ‘legal’. If the Collision is off, you can place parts inside of other parts.
If there are no parts in your design yet, or if they aren't near the parts you want to place, the parts will be placed on the virtual Ground.
Parts can also be moved with the W A S D keys on your keyboard. A & D move the parts left and right. W & S move the parts back and forward if you look at the design from above, or up and down if you look at the design from the side. The move will follow the Grid, but the parts will move freely: they won’t snap and there won’t be collisions.
Another way to move parts is to use the Translation Tool.
To rotate part(s)use the arrow keys (→ ← ↑ ↓) to turn the part by 90° or use Shift and the arrow keys (→ ← ↑ ↓) to turn the part by 45°. You can rotate parts with the arrow keys while you’re moving them.
